Trouble shooting

If the button above doesn't seem to work however, this section is for you.

The Clavichord application requires that you have Java 5 or later installed on your computer. Java is available for most platforms, including Windows, Mac OS and Linux. Note, however, that the Clavichord application only has been tested on the Windows platform, although it most likely will run smoothly on any other platform with Java properly installed.

Java can be downloaded from the web.

Given that Java 5 or later is installed on your computer, the button above ought to download, install, and launch the Clavichord application. The process would be managed by the Java Web Start facility which also manages security issues.

Download Alternatives

We strongly recommend that you use the Java Web Start button above, but if you for some reason prefer not to, we provide two alternatives.

The first alternative is to download the application as a regular Java executable - a JAR (Java ARchive).

If you are using the Windows plattform, you may also download a Windows executable. Note however, that this executable simply is a wrapped Java application, and that it still requires Java in order to execute.
